Risk is a part of our everyday lives. There are formal ways of dealing with risk, such as fire insurance, and informal means, such as planting a diversity of crops. This web site is a portal to a collaborative effort between Cornell University, New York State Department of Ag and Markets, and USDA's Risk Management Agency. It is intended to provide New York producers and growers with information about formal and informal means of dealing with risks in their agricultural businesses.

What's New

ATTENTION: For those interested in Crop Insurance, USDA's Risk Management Agency is offering substantial financial assistance to New York producers who purchase crop insurance by March 15th. For more information please click here.

A curriculum for business, or risk management plans has been developed. Identifying and evaluating the risks in your business is an important first step in the creation of a business management plan. We have developed materials to help producers assemble and implement such a plan. There are nine modules in this set and they are being delivered to discussion groups across the state. The modules are also available as streaming video over the web. Read more about this new effort and look for a group in your area by Clicking Here.

"Train-the-trainer" meetings have been held in several locations across New York. The materials presented at those meetings can be downloaded here.

Upcoming Events

A series of meetings helping producers to construct and implement a business or risk management plans are being held across New York state. For more information, please click here.

A series of meetings dealing with Legal and Human Resource Risk Management will be held across New York during November through February. More information about those meetings can be found here.
